Laid off from McQuay

The Engineering Department was called into a meeting on Tuesday March 30, 1999 at 3:45 PM. This included all the Drafters, Engineers, and Lab Techs. I counted about 55 people in the room. Chuck Lehman (the head of the department) came in and read us a letter from the CEO of McQuay, Joe Hunter.

The letter said something to this effect:
"Due to the lackluster financial performance of the Staunton facility, I am initiating a massive restructuring program. The Engineering department will be part of the first wave of this program."

Chuck explained that this would mean lay-offs, on Wednesday.

I was laid off on Wednesday around 1:30 PM, along with 17 others from the department.
